THE SHOW

Before Tonight: A Musical Nativity is a contemporary oratorio. A re-telling of the story of Christ’s birth from the perspectives of its central characters. This 50-minute theatrical concert weaves all-original music, ranging in style from pop/gospel to musical theater, with first-person narration paraphrasing the New Testament. The concert portrays an intimate look at Christ's birth: Elizabeth and Mary confide in each other their collective fears of motherhood in the song, “Hope of a Child.” Joseph, a carpenter, expresses his resolve to provide for a son that is not his own in “Build Him a Home.” In the title song, Shepherds sing in six-part harmony how different their lives were “Before Tonight.”
